WHAT ARE THEY?

River locs are a new twist on regular faux loc hair extensions. These River Faux locs are an imitation dreadlock typically made with human hair and synthetic hair

River locs use the same hair fibers you usually use for new goddess locs, boho locs, butterfly locs, and passion twist but adds a water wave hair strand that is twisted and crocheted near the center with the ends left out.

River locs can be hard to understand, but you will see how it is just a regular faux loc of any hairstyle with an added twist hair if you look at the visual. This gives the old locs a new high-quality styling with added aesthetics to separate you from everyone else!

BUYING PRE LOOPED RIVER LOCS

If you are going to checkout river locs, we suggest avoiding buying from overseas vendors because of the communication gap and the way their business days are set up.

It is always safe to buy from a local salon or American brand companies! Locs that use kanekalon, Marley hair, Bobbi Boss, and freetress are commonly safe choices in brands and quality.

BEST 2021 COLORS FOR CROCHET RIVER LOCS

River locs can use all the standard hair color schemes and patterns of regular hair extensions. Because this styling is an adaptation to original faux loc designs, the colors like ombre, purple, brown, black, and burgundy look radiant as river locs.

ADD RIVER LOCS TO GODDESS LOCS CROCHET HAIR

Because river locs are a twist on regular crochet hair extensions, they can be added to just about any kind of faux locs.

The trick is to match the hair color of the faux loc to the hair strands you are about to add.

Fold the hair strand in half and twist the hair around the locs near the center. Use a crochet hook to help intertwine the hair and just a dab of hair glue to help hold it together.

Leave both the ends out and handling loosely. This created the iconic river locs look!

MERMAID LOCS VS RIVER LOCS

With so many faux loc designs and creations out there, many vendors and sellers on amazon have gone soft and stopped their research right at the top layer and never scratched the surface. This has led to a lot of mislabeling of faux loc hairs and designs and incorrect asin numbers.

Because of this, we see a lot of mermaids locs and river locs being mislabeled.

Mermaid locs are a full head design created when a stylist adds crochet braids to your cornrows or box braids and then adds additional hair strands attached in between faux locs. From a distance, this can look very familiar to river locs.

The critical difference is how the extra curly hair is added. River locs attach the kinky hair directly to the loc and not to the cornrow or box braid base.

PROTECT RIVER LOCS FROM TANGLING AND KNOTTING UP

It’s a no-brainer that you have to take better precautionary steps to prevent your locs from tangling up when you have more hair, especially loose strands. River locs don’t tangle easy. If they do intertwine with other strands, just gently run your fingers through your hair. This will help separate the loose curly ends from the lightweight locs.

SLEEPING TIP TO WAKE UP LOOKING AMAZING

If you toss and turn while you slumber, we recommend throwing your hair up in a reverse bandana or silk bonnet to prevent a rat’s nest in the morning. This doesn’t take much time and can help prolong the life of these locs.
